2011 PGTA Annual Meeting
Denver Indoor Gardening Expo
Welcome to the first PGTA Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the Indoor GardeningExpo. After listening to our members and manufacturers, PGTA has combined our efforts with the exhibit show production by the popular publishing company, Maximum Yield. By hosting your 14th Annual PGTA Meeting alongside the IGE, PGTA attendees will be given special "members only" access and privileges in the exhibit hall including exclusive face-to-face trade show time with over 220 exhibitors.
Denver, Colorado offers the perfect venue and location for members of the progressive gardening trade industry to unite, network, learn and share the growth, the obstacles and the unique opportunities that are before the industry.
The PGTA invites both members and non-members to participate in two days of timely seminars on important industry issues and an exclusive half-day preview of the Indoor Gardening Expo. This unique opportunity to have undivided facetime with over 200 exhibitors is reserved for PGTA meeting participants only.

Featured Speakers
Albe Zakes
Global Vice-President of Media
TerraCycle, Inc.

Albe Zakes is the 27-year old Global VP of Media at TerraCycle, Inc., the world's leading "upcycling" company, which converts waste materials into eco-friendly, affordable products. Albe started at TerraCycle as an intern in the PR department, after being told he did not have enough experience for a full-time position! After two months he was offered a full-time position and never looked back.
He helped TerraCycle battle Scotts Miracle-Gro, by running the "Sued by Scotts" Campaign in 2007, which received national media attention. Under Albe's management, the PR department has secured almost 200 media placements in the last 3 years that have generated well over 900 million impressions. This year he secured coverage for TerraCycle on "Oprah" and "Good Morning, America" on the same day, Earth Day!
In addition to managing the company's public relations activities, Albe organized TerraCycle's yearly Graffiti Jam and helps run the summer internship program which hosts over 20 college students every summer and several during the school year as well. Albe's speaking platforms have included Harvard, Harvard Business School, Wharton School of Business, Denver University, the American Horticultural Society Annual Conference, as well as countless "green" and business conferences.
Albe will specifically address the challenges of selling hydroponic and earth-friendly products for local markets in the unique environment retailers face for our industry.

Charlie Watson Memorial Party
Please join us Friday evening, April 1st, 2011 to honor and celebrate the life of PGTA Vice-President and founder of The Grow Store, Charlie Watson, at the Denver Convention Center. Charlie was a shining star in our industry and was passionate about working with kids and schools to further hydroponic educational efforts through the PGTA Educational Grant program Hooked on Hydroponics, and the newly created Professional Hydroponics Education Council (PHEC).
The party will serve as a fundraiser to raise money so that the PGTA can continue Charlie's important PGTA educational initiatives. A unique silent auction is also planned that will feature vintage hydroponic, chemical, and soilless gardening books, periodicals, and products.
Please plan to join us for a joyful look back at Charlie's life and a night of musical celebration with one of Colorado's most well-known blues bands, the Delta Sonics. There are many ways to show your support, please email charliewatsonmemorial@pgta.org for more information.
