PGTA Annual Meeting
The PGTA Annual Meeting and New Product Showcase is held each spring. The 2008 PGTA Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, was an overwhelming success. Planning is underway for our 2009 show, so keep an eye on this page for more details as they become available.
Annual Meeting
Today’s gardening needs are quickly evolving. Caring for plants in one form or another has evolved from a seasonal activity to a truly year round pursuit. Skyrocketing food prices, contaminated vegetables, increased awareness of pesticide dangers, environmental damage from chemical fertilizers and a pressing need for water conservation and environmentally friendly practices means today’s gardening must focus more on:
- Organic Sustainable Gardening Methods
- Water-Wise Garden Design and Maintenance
- Maximizing Yields in Smaller Spaces
- Increasing Accessibility
Water-wise and organic gardening provides simple, existing solutions to maximize today’s gardening experience using environmentally friendly methods that will:
- Require less time than traditional gardening methods.
- Eliminate or greatly reduce pesticide and fungicide use.
- Deliver fresh herbs, vegetables and flowers all year long.
- Provide higher yields in less space.
- Work indoors, on patios, balconies, in backyards and hobby greenhouses.
- Conserve water and reduce weather damage.
- Improve the home environment.
While the basic solutions to present-day issues already exist, the progressive garden retailing industry’s understanding of how to educate and sell the public on water-wise and environmentally friendly gardening products and practices remains limited. Educating 84 million gardening households is no small task, and the PGTA is here to help you.
Who Should Attend?
Garden supply retailers, garden center, and nurseries; product manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors; and those interested in starting a business in the lawn and garden industry who are interested in expanding the knowledge and use of organic and water-wise gardening products and practices are welcome to attend and participate. By educating and building our own community, we hope to chart a course for a better, more prosperous gardening industry and market for the future.
PGTA members receive special discounts for attendance, but both members and non-members are invited.
Our well attended educational sessions cover a variety of important topics and issues related to sustainable gardening practices and technologies.
